Next Generation Leader (Book Review)

Next Generation Leader

Book Review for:  “Next Generation Leader:  5 Essentials for Those Who Will Shape The Future” by Andy Stanley

This book was a joy to read.  Andy reinforced my understanding of what true leadership is and how one can maximize their potential as a leader.  Lastly, he nails the importance of character, which I believe to be one of the greatest aspects of a true leader.

This book is an excellent resource for all leaders.  Andy lays out 5 concepts that serve as the outline of the book.  The 5 essentials of leadership covered are: Competence, Courage, Clarity, Coaching and Character.

Andy intertwines these concepts beautifully to give the reader an overall picture of what a leader who is worth following should look like.  He reveals the difference between a leader who has followers and a leader who is “worth” following.  This is an important distinction in our world and it sets us up to understand what kind of a legacy a true leader will leave.

Andy’s book is a great resource for leaders at every level or for those who desire to lead.  The insight and wisdom this book contains is important for the simple reason that leaders will always rise up in every generation and in every mountain of society.  The only question to ask is if they will be leaders worth following.  If you use the tools in this book, you will leave a legacy for generations beyond your own and set the standard for being a leader who is worth following.  May you take Courage and lead on!
