One of the many benefits of knowing Jesus is doing gift exchanges with Him. If you are feeling despair, you can give it to Him and in exchange, He will give you a spirit of praise. If you exchange grief, He will give you a crown of beauty. If you give him your pain, He will give you joy. He exchanges weakness and gives us strength. This is how you become an overcomer that reigns in this life. It is through the gift of righteousness that comes through Jesus that we live in victory. (Rom 5:17) These gift exchanges are better than we can imagine because we can give Jesus crap and He will give us glory. What an exchange!
It would be utter arrogance to not do these gift exchanges because then we are left to deal with life on our own without the power of the One who defeated death, despair and weakness. Without accepting His gifts we are left to face the despair of this world, of which God hates, without the power to overcome it. He longs to empower people to overcome the world’s despair and thus be a light that transforms it into the beauty for which it was originally designed. Through His gifts He empowers you to be who you were created to be. You were created to be a happy, loving and powerful child of God that, like Jesus, brings gifts of healing to a broken world until it is restored. Until its weakness is exchanged for the glory of a world that reigns in wholeness.
So do some gift exchanges with Jesus this Christmas season. Be empowered with His gifts to live a victorious life that will help bring victory to others. Exchange your thoughts with Him and receive His Spirit of power in your mind by meditating on the words of Jesus below.
“He has sent me to provide for all those who grieve, to give you crowns instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of tears of grief, and clothes of praise instead of a spirit of weakness. You will be called Trees of Righteousness, the Plantings of the LORD, so that you can display his glory.”
May your gift exchanges result in your horizons being expanded. May your borders be extended to take in the depth, the height and the width of the endless gift that God Himself is to you. God is for you. Merry Christmas from the Expanding Horizons blog and have a Happy, Ever-Expanding, New Year!
